Elevator in St. Chapelle......is it convenient for someone with limited mobility?
As I’ve been there several times, I have taken the winding stairs up. My friend might have difficulty with it. I did see where they do have an elevator. Is it easy to get the elevator or difficult and time consuming to wait for direction to it? Does anyone have any experience with this? |
As I remember one must be escorted to and up in the elevator. The Elevator is not not accessed from Sainte Chapelle but from the Justice offices. If one is disabled they don't have to stand in the entrance/security queue. There is a sign directing handicapped visitors to the (different) accessible entrance.

Access to the upper chapel is by a lift of the Palace of Justice (note that the width of the wheelchair must not exceed 60 cm). Thanks janisj....it sounds like a lot of trouble. She’s not in a wheelchair, just is extremely slow on stairs so always prefers an elevator. I think we’ll go slowly up the stairs. The people behind us will just have to understand. |

It is exactly the same. The up spiral staircase is in one corner and an identical down staircase is in the opposite corner. |
