Hello All,

Please bare with me, this is my first post and I found this site which seems very legitimate. I am hoping to receive a valid and informed answer. Thank you in advance.

I am travelling to Germany for a trade show soon and am bringing large motorized sports equipment. The voltage should be fine, 220V, but the hertz are a concern. If I have a large motor that is 60htz, do I need to bring some form of converter/inverter/transformer? If so, what is the best option for this large motor?

Standard in Germany is 230V and 50Hz. Is the Hz difference going to affect your equipment to some great degree and compromise safety?

If the motor in your equipment is an AC synchronous motor, it will operate slower. If your equipment has a 60hz transformer in it, it will heat up with the 50hz.
An equipment that can do a 60hz to 50hz conversion at a current range of a sports equipment would be ginormously heavy.

Only the equipment manufacturer can answer these questions.

If this large motorized sports equipment is supposed to be shown and used at the trade show you mentioned, I'd ask the organizers of that trade show how you should proceed. When they have international parcipants or vendors at the trade show, the technical support should have the proper equipment available on site. At least it won't hurt to ask.
