Electric outlets

Hi,

I am sure this has been discussed many times but I did not have luck searching.

Will I need an adapter for electrical U.S. made appliances such as curling iron, rechargable shaver, recharable batteries for digital camera while in southern Germany?

Thanks

RufusTFirefly Dec 12th, 2005 09:35 AM

You will need a plug adaptor.

And you might need a voltage converter/transformer depending on the individual appliance--some are dual voltage, some are not. It should say on the appliance label somewhere.

Yes, yes and yes.
havr fun!

If you happen to be in Munich, maybe visit Mr. Ohm's grave. It's within walking distance from downtown.

wgb1 Dec 12th, 2005 09:53 AM

What is the common voltage in Germany?

logos999 Dec 12th, 2005 09:56 AM

230V AC

Robespierre Dec 12th, 2005 10:06 AM

logos, was he in the Resistance during the war?

logos999 Dec 12th, 2005 10:14 AM

Correct, it's the guy who resisted and didn't let any currents pass. So if you happen to be in Munich pay tribute and take a photo of his grave. One of the few people who really did change the world.

Robespierre Dec 12th, 2005 12:52 PM

I believe his son was a conductor on the S-Bahn.

lawchick Dec 12th, 2005 12:57 PM

No, he was only a semi-conductor, the rest of the time he was too re volt ing

KT Dec 12th, 2005 01:00 PM

I'm confused. Watt are you talking about?

logos999 Dec 12th, 2005 01:06 PM

You really do not know about the conspiracy between Mr. Volt, Mr. Ampère and Mr.Ohm?

lawchick Dec 12th, 2005 01:15 PM

Volta....but no idea - whats the conspiracy theory? Batteries failed in a Parisien tunnel?

logos999 Dec 12th, 2005 01:25 PM

No, the plot was to cause frustration to foreign tourists. Mr. Volta said "Ha, no way, your "contraption" is never going to work in Europe, you're to weak a person", while Mr Ampere claimed "only if you speed up and double the flow". Mr Ohm however said,: "Do whatever you want, you need thicker and shorter wires to make it work"
So together they gave you hope, just to make you fail later . What an evil plan.

Robespierre Dec 12th, 2005 01:47 PM

Well, I thought the idea had great potential. But I'm not really current.

lawchick Dec 12th, 2005 02:09 PM

It had potential, but now its alternating, I think it may be hitting a vaccuum. My leg is twitching like Galvani's frog....must leap off for a mo.

KT Dec 12th, 2005 02:51 PM

Erg...it's time to get back to work. Enough of these joules of wit.

Grcxx3 Dec 12th, 2005 08:15 PM

You guys are obviously wired!

Pumblechook Dec 12th, 2005 08:37 PM

I'm laughing so much it hertz.

RufusTFirefly Dec 13th, 2005 05:50 AM

A shockingly poor collection of puns.
