El Rey Moro Hotel in Sevilla

I'm off to join my daughter in Barcelona for a 2 1/2 week trip to Barcelona, Sevilla, Ronda and Granada. I'm very comforable with my hotel choices except Sevilla. Anyone stayed at this hotel? All of my first choices were already booked (mostly tripadvisor and Fodors rec. ones).

I'm booked here as well at the end of this month for three nights with my family and I'm also a bit apprehensive due to the lack of reviews. I'm bumping this in the hopes of getting some feedback from those in the know.

Kenderina, thanks for the link. I had seen those reviews but so few of them were in English, I was hoping for some first hand feedback. The good news is that we will have a very international experience! Trippo, I'm hoping you post a review when you get back. I'm not going to be there until the 13th of May. I'd love to see a trip report from you before I leave! Enjoy.

Hey Trippo, how was the El Rey Moro hotel? I'd love to see a trip report. I leave for Spain on May 5th.

If you have a Hotel reservation in Sevilla the week leading up to Pentecost Sunday, you're 'ahead of the game.' That's the week of the Feria del Campo and Romeria al Santuario de la Virgen de Rocio. It builds up thru the week & ends Monday at the Santuario in Huelva (Province - west edge of the Doñana wildlife refuge).

The last time I was there for that fiesta (2005), people in Sevilla were claiming that a million pilgrims had participated. Official Police estimate: 650,000

Usually, one expects a 3-star Hotel to have air conditioning. Looks to me from the Rey Moro's fact sheet (link that kenderina was so kind to give us) that this property doesn't offer air conditioning.

Sevilla in May: I need air conditioning!

El Rey Moro rooms do have a/c (a necessity, yes, in May) plus internet access. It belongs to the same family as the restaurant. Looks like another good value budget place in the center of the city.

It's bookable on Venere.

I thought I'd weigh in since we recently stayed at El Rey Moro (during Semana Santa). For us it was pricey because of the timing, but I think their standard rates are very "affordable". This is a great place, pleasant people, very clean, and the front desk folks all speak english. It was quite luxurious by our standards, large room with nice bath, TV, phone. We had an interior room, but noise isn't likely to be much of a problem no matter what room you have. This is on a very narrow street and quite a bit out of the way from the rest of Barrio de Santa Cruz. You will have to walk about a block or so if a taxi leaves you off in the Jardines de Murillo, so keep that in mind if you will have difficulty getting there. We were offered the breakfast buffet one morning and it was amazing. I'm not sure what the extra cost is for this, but they have a lot of food there so if breakfast is your thing, I'd definitely recommend you sign on. I would highly recommend this place. It's very pretty to boot! They have a lovely inner courtyard with a fountain.
