If you go on the very last day, you will probably get extra helpings of everything.

If you go on the very last day, you will probably get extra helpings of everything.

This made me laugh.

Congrats and Enjoy! Just finished reading The Sorcerer's Apprentice ... fascinating! Ferran Adrià and his staff certainly make food magic happen!

Ekscrunchy, thank you for the article, your thoughtfulness is appreciated. I did not see it until now.

Everyone, thank you for your enthusiasm about our "wining the lottery." You are all so generous.

I do not remember a time when so much emphasis is placed on obtaining a booking at a restaurant no less for anything..ballet, concerts, wearing the correct ensemble, reading "that" book first, being there first..El Bulli claims my first prize in attention getting. It will be fun (as Elizabeth_S said)..full of wide eyed excitement and mouth popping morsels.

We leave for Madrid on Tuesday to begin our sojourn. I am now grinning with excitement. Thank you all and again, I wish all Fodorites a fabulous travel time too.

Would be interested in reading your review of El Bulli. Safe travels!

Curiousaboutit May 18th, 2011 05:04 PM

Thank Debs. I promise to explode with stories and hopefully some pictures. I would probably need to know how to insert pictures, I am not on Facebook nor any of the other sites some of our Fororite friends..I'm not that "evolved."

cova May 19th, 2011 01:04 AM

Curious, are you still interested on meeting in Madrid next week?
I could meet you on Saturday, the 28th. Lunch would be better because I am still waiting for a friend and I might have plans for the evening.

Bye, Cova

Curiousaboutit May 20th, 2011 09:21 AM

Cova, I am sorry we cannot get together next Saturday, we will be "day tripping." I hope you took a look at Tamar's site.

I have been hearing lovely things about El Bulli even though it is closing. One of my friend's daughter and her husband along with four other friends are dining at the restaurant next Saturday. They have been there before and simply put, had a grand time. Regardless that they do do things like go from Los Angeles to Roses just for the weekend and dinner they would not if the entire evening was not anticipated to be stellar.

I shall report back all the fine details.
Smiles to all and happy flying, boating, or driving to your vacation destination knowing you are forming memories forever..therefore indulge oneself.

With El Bulli closing, Ferran Adrià and his brother have opened a new tapas bar in Barcelona called Tickets: http://www.ticketsbar.es/en

Curiousaboutit May 21st, 2011 08:33 PM

Yes we all read of the new restaurants..well by name .. I have read about them and as of today not yet eaten there. Possibly a go to spot to munch on their pincho might not be necessary. We most likely will be oh so happy with El Bulli for our anniversary dinner..we might not be needing more.

HI Curious.

Just read one of what promises to be a spate of articles that will appear about the "last meal" at EB. At least I can console myself that I tasted the spherical olives (part of the dinner described in the article) at Tickets.

I can only marvel at the delights in store for you!

KImhe:

If you are interested in Tickets, you can read my small report of a dinner a few months ago:

Oh My Gosh..My Husband and I are entirely over whelmed and tickled to have "won" the lottery. We were told that Monday and Tuesday they were close and Thursday, Friday, Saturday, they were booked with large events and Wednesday was the only day available during the week we were in roses; not to anticipate highly...AND now we are proud to say.. we are celebrating our anniversary at El Bulli... Fantastic.
We are off tomorrow.

We shall write .. everyone..enjoy your trips. Thank you for your guidance.

What a thrill, Curiousaboutit! Congratulations on your Anniversary, and managing a "Last Supper" at El Bulli!

Hope you have a wonderful time. Just being in Spain would be great.

Cathiinjoetown: I'd rather have a booking at El Bulli. Likely to be minimalist menu of loaves & fishes at 2nd coming.

Cathinjoetown May 27th, 2011 08:33 AM

True, but I have never seen a restaurant described in such reverential tones. Just a bit OTT, imo.
