Eiffel Tower Twinkles Again

Just saw the tower on TV twinkling away. The mayor flipped the switch yesterday to begin the nationwide Festival of Music. It twinkles for ten minutes every hour from sunset till midnight+.

LVSue,

I, too, saw it on TV. It looked beautiful.

Yes, it started on the 21st. We left Paris on the 20th- oh, well! I did see it two years ago and it's very pretty!

Looking forward to seeing it in the next couple of weeks! Only in Paris for one day and night, but seeing the twinkle lights will be worth it.

Last Thursday, after dinner, we went to the Parc du Champ de Mars to watch the twinkling Eiffel Tower at 11.00 PM (twinkles for some ten minutes).

What a great thing to do and from that spot, you will have a full and close view of the tower from the botton to the top.
It reminded me of a huge Christmas tree. Absolutely gorgeous.
The park itself was packed with people just relaxing on the lawn, having a picnic or a drink .
There were even people selling cold drinks. A very welcoming thing on this warm evening.
When finally the lights went on, one could hear a big Woo Hoo.
From what I gathered, it started twinkling already at 10.00 PM, but then, it wasn't really dark yet.

I highly recommend this free event, if you should be in Paris in the next ten years. :)
