Eiffel Tower
I know this is sort of a stupid question but I am curious. I just checked a webcam of the Eiffel Tower, which I do occasionally to dream while at work, and it is lit to be green on the bottom and gold on top. I am used to seeing all gold lights at night. Can anyone tell me what the changed lighting on the tower is about or am I just in the middle of a bad dream?
Thanks in advance. Jackie |
I think it has something to do with the Rugby World Cup. It was lit up like that when I was there 2 weeks ago and there was a big sign about the rugby championships hanging from it. What does the green have to do with rugby (if anything)? Not sure...

Erin: Thank you for the reply. I know it really isn't that important but I was surprised when I looked at the webcam and saw the change. I can't imagine what the green has to do with rugby but I hope it is not destined to stay lit in this manner. I prefer the usual golden glow of the tower myself.

It's supposed to be reminiscent of the lawn of the rugby stadium.

I guess I have no vision because I sure didn't get that. Does anyone know how long it is going to be lit in this manner?

It's sort of creative, actually -- you probably didn't notice the sky tracer parallel lights that are supposed to resemble the vertical parts of the goal post, either, and the lit-up horizontal bar across the first level to make that goal post.
It's supposed to be during the entire event of the World Cup, so I think until Oct 20th. |
Wow, no I totally didn't! I guess I was too distracted by the green...I'll have to go back and look at my pictures! Thanks for pointing that out :)

Ok, I just looked at my pics and NOW I can totally see it! But I never would have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out...once again, thanks!
