Edinburgh's Tram System Opens For Business
After 7 years of disruption, £200M over budget, and no doubt a collective sigh of relief from long-suffering local residents, Edinburgh's tram system came into operation today:-

The trams link Edinburgh airport with York Place at the eastern end of the city centre, passing through intermediate stops in Corstorphine, Haymarket and along Princes St.

Cash ticket prices range from £1.50 single within the city centre to £8 return to/from the airport, and can be bought from vending machines at each stop. There are also a range of day passes and season tickets valid on the buses as well.

Thanks for sharing. We are going over in a few weeks and this is interesting to hear. Is there a site with routes and fares published or are they available at the ticket counter?

This is good news for Edinburgh--a truly wonderful city.

I can't wait to go back and see the city without all the construction. What a nightmare it has been. It will be super easy getting from the airport now but didn't mind the bus.
