Thanks for your trip report and beautiful pictures. We have been two times to Scotland, visiting mainly Edinburgh, Glasgow and some of the areas between. A visit to the Highlands is on the cards, hopefully within next few years.

I wonder if the youth choir were from Geroge Heriot's school? My bf from grade school has three grands that go to school there and they do a lot of performances, singing and band. She missed her summer trip to visit so very sad.

I love the train trip there. We went from Bury St Edmunds but the coastal views were amazing. So hard to get five people on the same page for eating. Last group trip I told everyone to pick one place. Sometimes splitting up isn't such a bad thing. I wanted Indian food for our London trip that never happened. I think Mexican food would be my last resort. I miss travel so was nice to see your pictures. I have never been to St Andrew's golf course.. My husband has back when there was a base in Northern Scotland. He hit the shop up for his brother the golfer. Maybe one day.

Katherine23 I haven’t heard that reference to Greece before so I’m not sure. I did find it fascinating that there are so many interesting sights that date very far back.

maitaitom we all loved Dean Village and the walk along the Water of Leith. We may go back in a few years and stay for a month. I think we would stay toward that area in New Town. It feels a little less touristy.

But for now, I’m working on our next family trip hopefully for August 2021. Where to go next...???

Hi lrice,
We cancelled all of our trips for 2020, too! We haven't seen our daughter and grandchildren for a year now. We hope to visit France in the spring, but we will not buy tickets in advance. We'll just wait and see how things are going.

I am not on Fodors too often right now. Just wondering, are you still planning on staying in Aix next year? I am sure you will enjoy it.

We are up in the air a bit of where and when to go due to being unsure if any of our young adult children will come with us or not. If it's just me and my husband, we will go to Aix in September 2021 hopefully. We found a beautiful one-bedroom apartment recommended by someone on the Rick Steve's Board. I can't seem to find a two-bedroom (at a reasonable cost) so it's more difficult for us to have our three kids with us in Aix.

If I'm planning a 10-day trip for the five us in late July/early August, we may look at Lisbon or Germany and Austria. Verona and Northern Italy also are on my list. I just don't know anything about them so feel I am starting from scratch.
