Edinburgh To St. Andrews
 

Can someone tell me how you get to St. Andrews from Edinburgh now? I've been there a couple of times and I remember it as being very near Edinburgh. The Trip Planner is telling me it is about six hours by train from Edinburgh. I know it wasn't nearly that far. I rode the train to the end, and a bus from St. Andrews picked us up and took us to the town.

what trip planner? You need to toss that one for sure (unless you entered weird info or perhaps were using your local time and it was the wee small hours of the morning so the next train would be several hours later). As you know, the train doesn't go to St Andrews - so you should look for trains from Edinburgh to Leuchars. From there a local bus or taxi to St Andrews.

Yes, bettyk -- it certainly did help. Thank you. You go from Edinburgh Rail Station to Leuchars, and from there you catch a bus to St. Andrews. That's an hour and 17 minutes one way. That's a little better than six hours one way, don't you think? LOL

I knew I wasn't on a train for any six hours when I went to St. Andrews. Thanks again.

In the old days you used to be able to buy a ticket at Waverley which combined the train and bus
