sometimes trains can change course midway thru a route - this is where they go into a dead-end terminus and back out to continue on. But on that route I do not recall any such places where that is likely to happen but it is something you have to keep in mind with long distance trains.

Bring any food and drink you want on trains -though there is a buffet ("boofey") car it sells overpriced limited fare but is always there if needed. 1st class drinks and snacks complimentary at your seat.

I flew from London City to Edinburgh yesterday, and my advice is to take the train. Don't ask me why I didn't realize that our hotel, St Pancras Renaissance, was quite literally next to the train station! To get to LCY was tube to Bank, then lots of stairs to get to the DLR. Getting off the DLR was more stairs and hauling carryon luggage up & down. LCY security was tight; even my nail scissors were analyzed and my carryon was weighed. Son's travel toothpaste was not in bag, so his toiletries had to be rescanned (he's too accustomed to pre check.) Flight was delayed due to prior day's fog and then an overhead locker door would not close and had to be removed before we could fly.
An expensive taxi would have solved some of these problems, but that train certainly looks good after yesterday's luggage gymnastics.
