Hi

Long time since I've been, but Rose St Edinburgh used to have a choice of lively pubs

I was in this area with a friend who worked there. Its a rough area and you must be careful about the colors you wear. You may be mistaken for a rival football (soccer) team.

Jor - think you mean Glasgow, there isn't really that problem in Edinburgh between Hearts and Hibs.

For pubs, the main areas are Rose St and the Grassmarket , but you could also venture further south into Newington for some more studenty places.

The granddaddy of Edinburgh folk music pubs is Sandy Bells on Forest Road near the university. Usehttp://www.gigguide.co.uk/listings.htm for music offerings and venues.
