Edinburgh lovers: Castle View is for sale !

The Castle View gusthouse, which many of you here have enjoyed, is for sale at offers around £700,000.

(This is unusual for Scotland : it's usually "offers over £n", and offers ovewr £700,000 would mean anything from £800,000 to £1m or more.)

The agents' phone number is +44-131-225-1200 if anyone is interested

Oh - I do hope the new owners don't mess it up

One B&B I've used several times in Crail has gone through 3 owership changes since I first stayed there in the early 80's and luckily each has kept the good things and improved other bits. But other places I've really liked have been ruined by new owners -- or closed and converted back to homes.

Yes, it may not stay a B&B - the advert says "If you are looking for a thriving business... or a rarely available development opportunity". My bet would be it will be bought by developers & turned into flats. Unless a concerned Fodorite buys it to keep it as it is ?

I saw another piece about the place in a paper yesterday & it mentioned that it was the birthplace of Kenneth Grahame, which I'd never heard before.

I remember reading that somewhere - either on the website or in the lounge the first time I stayed there.
