Edinburgh Hogmanay
 

hi there, we are planning to visit Edinburgh for New Year and have been trying to find website to purchase tickets for event without any joy. Does anybody have any info regarding how I go about buying tickets for various events?

We are also planning to stay in an apartment as we are family of four think this will be best option. We want something central but would need car parking space - again anybody any ideas.

The only two central apartment complexes I can think of with car parking spaces are the Knight Residence in Lauriston Street and Fountain Court Apartments in Grove Street. You can check out reviews at

With regard to Hogmanay Street Party and other tickets over the Hogmanay period keep checking http://www.edinburghshogmanay.org as that will give you information as to when tickets for the various 09 / 10 events go on sale.

The 30th December events in the Grassmarket are probably as good, if not better than the Street Party on Hogmanay and the Ceilidh in the George Street Assembly Rooms on the 31st is better but more expensive than the Street Party the same night.

Knight Residence is a good place. Staff was helpful and the suite was a decent size when we were there a few years ago. There was on-street parking but that may be hard to obtain at that time of year.

The inn is in a bit of an interesting area (unless things changed significantly) -- there was a gentlemen's club called the Burke & Hare right across the street.
