Edinburgh/Dublin accommodations by the universities
In February, my son Mick and I will be coming to visit the University of Edinburgh and Trinity College in Dublin. He'll be applying next year. Ideally we want to stay right by the universities for around 100 US Dollars per night (60 pounds). We'll want clean, not funky. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My apologies. I posted this twice. See above.

Edinburgh University's a bit spread out. Do you have an interest in a particular bit?

He wants to study biochemistry which I believe is in the King's Buildings area of the campus. However, we will be starting out at Admissions and also at the International Students Centers, both of which are located at George Square. Apparently there is good university transportation from there which we will use to take an afternoon visit of the King's area. So, something near the Old College would be best.
Sheila, I couldn't help but notice your posts to other questions and the warm responses to them! Jill |
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?:)
OK. Near the Old College is pretty commercial.(ie not many B&Bs) I would suggest you look at the Premier Lodge place in the Grassmarket. It's not 10 minutes walk from the Union and Old College. It's a buzzy area and your son will like it. It's like and urban HoJos As an alternative, near the principle Hall of Residence- Pollock Halls- there's a terrific B&B much loved by a number of Fodorites- the Dunedin. It has its own web site. I hope this helps. |
Of course, that is a good thing!
This is a huge help! Thanks so very much. Jill |
