Edinburgh Bus Tours - hop on hop off

We have 4 ladies traveling to Edinburgh for 2 full days - is the Bus Tour with
admission to castle and Britanica - with hop on and hop off - flexibility -
something we should consider. I read that the Royal Mile is a climb - and one
of our ladies is not up to walk for long stretches. Any other ideas are welcome.

The city is extremely hilly although besides the Britnica the major sights are near one another. It is not a city for those who have trouble walking hills.

The hop on and off tours can be good if you choose not to walk but in order to get to Edinburgh Castle, there is still an upward climb from where the bus drops off. I don't think it is too bad but I don't have problems with walking. I did see cabs letting people off closer up near the castle. You can get off and on whenever you want but sometimes you will have wait. I don't think the wait was long but something to think about.

I do not recall the tours including admission to the castles or the Royal Yacht. If you do show your ticket, I think you get a discount at the Royal Yacht and some other places. I buy my Edinburgh Castle tickets on line so I don't have to wait. Depending on when you go, the lines can be long.

Going late Sept
-- I thought the tour bus would be a nice way to see the city - and with hop on -off - would make it a great option.

We are staying on Hanover St - any suggestions for Restuarants for dinner. also would love to take a day trip to St Andrews
any suggestions .
