Edinburgh B&B or alike
I have been researching hotels in Edinburgh and they seem extremely expensive (July) so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on nice wee B&B's near or in the city that mayeb more reasonable
Thanks :-) |
What is your budget ? How many people ?
B&Bs, especially in the centre, are often no cheaper than a moderate chain hotel - e.g. Travel Inn £69 per *room* per night, central B&B c.£50 per *person* per night. You can pay a lot less for a B&B but it won't be central. Two other budget options are a) university accommodation, b) the fairly new Central Hostel on Haddington Place. Let me know if you want more details of any of these. |
Me and my husband will be travelling, thanks for the advice. We don't want to stay in a hostel. What is the travel inn Like?

Travel Inns are fine. I haven't stayed in any of the Edinburgh ones but have stayed in others & will do again.
Lauriston Place has probably a nicer location & is nearer the main sights, but Morrison Link would be fine too - Sheila (*the* great Scotland expert here) has stayed there several times when she's been down from Aberdeen, so if it's good enough for her... Lauriston Place is the other side of the Castle from Princes Street so everwhere is walkable, while Morrison Link is just of the edge of the city centre but a bit better for buses & trains. http://www.premiertravelinn.com/pti/...?hotelId=24161 |
I agree w/ Caroline - nice B&Bs in central Edinburgh will cost as much or even more than comparable hotels.
There are good budget chain hotels like the Travel Inns This B&B is wonderful - IF you can manage the three floor climb since there is no elevator. Probably the best located B&B in the city just yards from both Princes street and Rose street. I had heard they were selling - but from the website it looks like it is still open. http://www.castleviewgh.co.uk/ |
Castle View was advertised for sale, yes, but I haven't heard any more about whether it has actually changed hands or not. The location is brilliant.
