Edinburgh & Windsor should I wait and book accomm at the last minute?
Hello again,
We have just about got our trip organized. Couple of B&B's to book but with our Edinburgh stay which would be 18 days into our trip should I wait until we land in London (there for 6 days) and check for a room at a nice hotel on Wotif/or similar site or don't risk it and stay in a B&B. Same with our Windsor stay (last 2 days before we go home) We will have a car while in Edinburgh but dropping it off at Heathrow on our 1st day in Windsor. Just thought we would move away from B&B's for a bit but any decent hotel in the UK is very high for us Aussies. Any suggestions?? Thanks Deb |
What are the advantages of waiting? You end up with the "left-overs" that others didn't want to book.

I would most definitely book a place in Edinburgh as soon as your dates are firm. Two places I always book ahead are London and Edinburgh. Just not worth it to wait - being pretty much year -ound destinations.
As for Windsor - you could wait until you are in the UK and then use the services of any Tourist Information Office in the country to book you a room in Windsor. Personally - I'd pre book because rooms in Windsor are relatively limited and relatively expensive compared to some other towns. |
Thank you for your help. May I ask, any suggestions on hotels or B&B in either place? Looking at spending 80 pound a night.
thanks again Deb |
I like the Dunstane House in Edinburgh. It's a BandB, with a quaint bar and a really nice restaurant with a decent location (it's right on the bus route) so you can get anywhere easily but you won't be in the middle of everything, which could be good or bad depending on what you're into. They have a website if you're interested. And if you go tell them Roxi sent you.

Thanks Roxi!
