Edinburgh accomodations

Very last minute decision...my husband and I will spend 5 days in Edinburgh, first time there! We need sugestions on hotels. Typically we prefer local "charm" to the huge hotel, but of course looking for a comfortable, clean room. Location is important. Range of room price: $150 ???? could stretch a little higher for the right place! Help please, we're ready to leave.

Both the Thistle Hotel and Jurys Inn are quite cheap. Look on www.expedia.co.uk for details

Hi!!!

There is a nice B&B in Edinburgh called Ingrams that I just stayed in last month for a night.

http://www.ingrams.co.uk/

I'm not big on hotels, so, when I needed to find a place in Edinburgh for one night before heading to our self-catering cottage, I searched B&B's and found this one. The rooms are a very good size, wonderfully comfortable and very, very clean! And the location was great!!! Needless to say I was very pleased with the place. The owners, David and Theresa, are wonderful hosts and David cooks a great breakfast!!! If I'm ever in that area again on a future trip, I would not hesitate to stay there again!!!

Thank you for the prompt response.Actually the idea of a Bed& Breakfast sounds great, so if anybody else out there has any other suggestions I would appreciate it!

The Apex in the Grassmarket would be my choice.

Agree with Sheila. The Apex hotels are very good.
Whatever you do don't stay at the Marriot Dalmahoy Country Club hotel (it is out of town so probably not what you're looking for).
In town itself, I have heard from friends that Channings is also good.

The Thistle Hotel and Jurys Inn are both big chain hotels.

2 B&Bs run by nice people I know slightly -

1) 1 Albert Terrace : http://www.aboutscotland.com/edin/albertterrace.html

2) Pringle's Ingle : http://www.scotland2000.com/pringle.

Both are in the pleasant area of Morningside about 2 miles from the city centre & on a good bus route.

When exactly are you coming ?

hi
try having a look here for a wider range of hotels.

the apex is good, but there's also the caledonian , at the foot of the bridges and theres the carlton hotel which i've heard good things about as well

caroline_edinburgh Jun 23rd, 2006 06:53 AM

But those are both big hotels - not exactly the "local charm" the OP is looking for.

I think you can safely ignore orbiting. He has posted 17 times - for places from Sedona Arizona to St Petersburg Russia - and Every post has been to advertise his lame website. seriously doubt he has ever stepped foot in Edinburgh.
