Econonytravel.com reliability?

Has anyone used Economytravel.com? Thinking about booking a flight to Salzburg, but have never done bookings with them. What has been your experience?

Excellent! I use them every year. I book either online and utilize their web specials or talk to the friendly intelligent people at their 800#

I, too, use them all the time and find their prices to be the lowest among the internet tickets for international travel. (I've used them so much that "Anna" has become my personal travel agent; however, alas, she is no longer there as of June 1st). Call their 800 number (888-222-2110) for more specials and flexibility with travel options, as I have found tickets that come up "sold out" in red on their site, actually might be available for 1 or 2 seats.

Well, thanks for writing. I did get a quote of say, $162, after I put in my departure and return, but didn't know if they were quoting One way or a Round trip, which I am interested in. I tried calling them, but found out they were closed.

Also, the "credit card/licence" form they have is interesting. Did you feel safe with this transaction?

Also, are these fares confirmed seats, or standby? And can you choose your seat? Also, obviously, they are economy, right? Thanks.

Oh, I saw where the site answers any question one might have about their operation. Thanks.

Huitres Jul 5th, 2006 11:20 AM

I would just pick the flight(s) you want, then call the 800 number to book them (rather then do on-line). Also, by calling in, you sometimes can get info on other flights not indicated on-line. You can then give them your credit card info over the phone (vs sending it in). They then will mail you the paper tickets via expedited mail.

Hi,
I used to work at Economytravel.com.
This is Anna, I wanted to thank you for the kind words from my old client!!
For the record, they are reputable and if you have issues they will try to solve them for you. They are not as good now that I have left of course!!!

SeaUrchin Sep 20th, 2006 05:05 PM

Anna, you have made some reservatons for me. I always thought (think) the reps were friendly and helpful and were very kind to me when I was being a pill and changing flights one time. I think it was you who helped me get a very good deal too!

Huitres Sep 21st, 2006 10:26 AM

Hi Anna (aka Brucanna): Glad to see you've surfaced at Fodors! I am sure you recognize who this is behind my pseudonym of Huitres! :) You were always so helpful in getting me flights and changing schedules and I appreciated it so much. I am bummed you aren't there anymore but know you were getting married and starting a new life. Best of luck to you in everything!

BRUCANNA Sep 21st, 2006 02:03 PM

Huitres , I actually have no idea , I racked my brain but I can't think. Oh well it will come to me in the middle of the night I'm sure.
I work for another online company now. Won't mention names. Have fun travelling everyone and maybe our paths will cross!!

BRUCANNA Sep 21st, 2006 02:05 PM

Ok wait , I know who you are....
Cool.

travgina Sep 21st, 2006 02:41 PM

O.K., where on the site do they answer questions? Apparently, I'm missing something here!

travgina Sep 21st, 2006 02:43 PM

Never mind, I found it!

Huitres Sep 21st, 2006 03:53 PM

Hi Brucanna (Anna): Remember Saleen?? :) Congrats on your marriage and everything else. I just got back from Italy on Sept 7 and am anxious to travel again....hopefully going to Greece at Christmas.

Question, when one books a flight through Economy Travel does one get FF miles for the flights they have booked through them? The website didn't seem to have this information or if it does I couldn't find it. Thank you.

kwren Sep 21st, 2006 05:49 PM

I just found an incredible fare to San Juan and would love to know about getting miles too. It would seem that once we check in, we can give our mileage number directly to USAir (in this case) and get the miles. Does that make sense?

kwren Sep 22nd, 2006 03:04 AM

Does Economytravel.com have a service charge - if so, is it included in the fees or will it be added on to the quoted price?

kwren Sep 22nd, 2006 05:23 AM

FYI - just called Economy and if you book with them by phone, there is a $20pp service charge. She didn't THINK there was one if booking online. The price through them by phone this morning was also higher than online pulled up by me at the same time so I'm still going to wait for a better price. (Didn't want to book 4 people and book again for 2 more in case the seats at the low price ran out.)

BRUCANNA Sep 22nd, 2006 09:31 AM

Huitres, I did figure it out after I viewed all the Italy references that you had made. Thanks a lot for the nice things you have said.
I have that Saleen poster framed and on my wall. My now fiance LOVES it.
To answer the frequent flier question. Most of the airlines allow the mileage, the one big exception is British Airways.

Huitres Sep 22nd, 2006 11:27 AM

Yes, I have gotten my frequent flier miles credit each and every time I have booked with Economytravel.com. You give the ff # to the agent when booking the reservation. I always double-check with the airlines directly after I have received the ticket to make sure it is on all segments of the flights.

Anna, I thought you might have already married but looks like that is still being planned. Best of luck to you!
