Has anyone visited the open air museum, Ecomusee D'Alsace in Ungersheim near Mulhouse?

The website is in French or German so I was wondering if audio or written guides will be available in English. Michelin states there are 50 traditional houses dating from the 15C to 19C scattered over almost 50 acres. The houses, relocated from locations throughout Alsace, were taken apart and then rebuilt in this museum village. There are also renovations to various buildings of the potash mine Rodolphe next to the museum.

I've sent two emails asking whether information will be available to us in English but have not received a response. Hopefully, someone at Fodors has gone to this museum and can answer my question ;;) thanks, Deborah

We visited it and really enjoyed the recreated homes & everything else. Storks were everywhere. Don't remember if there are English translations - my wife speaks French & translates for me. Being so close to Germany, I suspect that there are several language translations - but that's a guess.

I have been and found it very very interesting.

I cannot tell about English information, though, I did not look for it since I don't need it ;-) Even if there isn't, though, when looking into the houses and seeing the presentations a lot will be self-explanatory. It is worth going.

And I think the Alsace tourism website claims they have some guided tours in English, but it is rather vague. Also, the website itself touts it as having visitors from all over the world, so they think you can enjoy it, I'm sure. I don't see any audio guides on anyone in any photo.

Thank you for your comments. The men in our group would get more out of our visit, and not rush "us" if there is even a little info provided in English. We are also hoping that although it is off season that there will be some Alsatian activities the day we are there. Deborah

I enjoyed my visit to the Ecomusee. I don't recall being disadvantaged by my monolingualism, and, while the reconstructed houses etc were fine, the highlight for me was the working saw mill driven by water. The men in your group should find that entertaining enough!
