Ecco shoes-where to purchase?
 

A recent posting spoke of comfortable shoes to wear. Among them were Ecco shoes. Can they be purchased in the U.S?. If not where? One place where comfortable shoes are a necessity is Prague. I had blisters 5 inches long and I wore my Doc Martens. Those beautiful cobble stone streets kill. <BR>Thanks, <BR>Denise

Denise: <BR>Nordstrom's of course. They are online if you don't have one where you live. They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, and I wore them all day every day in Italy.

Denise, they are also sold at "walking stores" usually found at your local mall. I have used Munroe ankle height boots for my last two trips during colder weather. Upcoming trip is in May so I went searching for shoes. I found the Mephistos and Eccos weren't wide enough for my problem feet. I bought a brand called "Zeeta" by Eurotech. I have no idea where they are made, but they are really comfortable and have a very sturdy, shock absorbing sole. They are kind of a shoe/sandal. Good luck!

My vote is for either Eccos or Clarks. Clarks are an english shoe, can be purchased in the US. I have several pairs. also, Ecco is great. Don't wear anything with a "wedged" heal on cobblestones...really dangerous. Girls in Denmark are now wearing shoes with 5-9 inch rubber soles. I guess falling off these shoes is making headlines in Europe and Japan.

Denise- <BR>Do you have a "Nordstroms Rack" anywhere near you? That's Nordstrom's outlet store chain. A couple months ago I had a serious estrogen attack at the newly-opened local "Rack" and ended up buying FOUR pairs of shoes: two pairs of Mephistos and two pair of Eccos. (No, I do not have a shoe fetish!) The Eccos were $59.90US and $69.00US/pair (I think they regularly retail at about $160US). The Mesphistos were $79.90US/pair (regular retail about $200-260US/pair). All were labeled "Worn and refinished." I initially found that a little creepy, but they all looked brand new and unworn. They're great shoes!

Denise: <BR> <BR>If you don't have a Nordstrom's in your area, I've also seen Ecco shoes at the Dillard's Department Stores. <BR> <BR>Of course, if you're willing to part with a few more dollars (actually ALOT more dollars), there's always Mephistos - the 'caviar' of comfort shoes. <BR> <BR>

I've seen them sold in better department stores. We have a "Dillards" here and they sell Ecco. Some of the shoe stores that sell the outdoorsy shoes carry Ecco. Another possibility is Sierra Trading Post. They carry some Ecco. There at www.sierratradingpost.com. Marilyn

Could some of you who are in the "know" please tell me where some of these Nordstom Rack stores are located. Also, are those of you who are rec. Clarks refering to their sandals with the 3 straps across the top as being comfortable for walking/touring. <BR> <BR>Thanks! <BR> <BR>Elsa

There's a Rack in Costa Mesa, CA. I have had a hard time finding shoes at nordie's rack, probably because I wear a size 10. By-the-way, the Ecco models that I buy run from 85 to $130.00 at the main store. I have a pair of sandals that are 3 years old and still running. Where is Dillard's located? We don't have one in Orange County, CA.

Thanks, Elsa. We're planning a trip to Arizona in March so I'll check it out. As far as I know, they're not this far west although perhaps they are in the Bay area. I am assuming Dillard's compares to Nordstroms or Sax?

I live in Panama City, Florida. We have Dillard's, which used to be known as Gayfers', and largely in the southeast U.S. Dillard's isn't as upscale or trendy, and can be less expensive. The Dillards' in Panama City carry the Ecco shoes for less than $120.00. Some styles @ $70. I shopped at a great Nordstrom's rack in Seattle. <BR>

Or do the easiest thing. Go to the Ecco web site and leave a message requesting list of stores in your area. I am a long time Ecco fan. This summer for 5 months in Europe will take three pairs of shoes --brown Ecco walking shoes for dress or casual, Ecco hiking boots, and Ecco sandals --for the Greek Isles. Last year, my partner and I bought similar Ecco hiking boots and wore them an exact number of times -- a lot, but for some reason the soles of mine fell apart. After taking pictures of them, I left them in the wastebasket in my hotel before flying home. When I contacted Ecco by email, they requested the pictures, apologized (I clearly had a defective batch of soles) and they sent me brand new ones. <BR>What a wonderful company.
