I was in Paris in August with my 13 year old and 16 year old sons and their favourite eating places were in the Latin Quarter - lots of Greek food, shwarmas, pizza. They also liked the Asian Traiteur restaurants which are everywhere and that have Chinese food displayed in glass cases for you to choose. But they most liked stopping at boulangeries for baguette sandwiches, pastries or savoury baked goods. And one of their favourite tours was of the Catacombs! Have a great trip, Lily

Our teenage daughter HAD to eat at the Hard Rock--at least we got to eat outside on their front terrace. I think she only wanted the tee shirt.

On the Champs Elysées, some touristy places, but that can be fun for teens, such as the Latina Cafe (offshoot of an eponymous radio station, hence a lot of latin music), the café on the last floor of the Virgin Megastore (the record store is huge and in a stunning turn of the century building; the café is average and service irregular, but it can be fun for a youngster). The arrondissements you are mentioning are far from being teenage heaven, they gear to a more staid clientele. For trendier places, you should go towards Bastille, rue de Lappe, rue de la Roquette, or the now famous rue Oberkampf at the intersection with avenue Parmentier in the République area. As for concerts, if you can read French, from tomorrow on you can have a look at www.aden.fr, they list them and have a selection.

Also at the Virgin Megastore - go down to the basement and see brochures for various concerts, buy tickets at the counter, etc.

My kids like french food. In fact my 18 year old chose a french restaurant for his birthday dinner a few weeks ago. He had a craving for fois gras.
