Eating on the Train from London to Hampton Court

We have a full day on our vacation and won't head to Hampton Court till noon. To save some time, we are thinking of grabbing sandwiches and eating on the train from Waterloo to the station near Hampton Court. This is more than a cup of coffee or a granola bar. Are we allowed to eat on those trains? I suppose I could endure the idea of being a totally tacky tourist, but I don't want to kicked off the train :) Please advise. Thanks.

I did? The only place that I'm aware of that you can't/shouldn't is the underground.

Sure you can -- but why not get a bite to eat at the Palace. Good food in the Tiltyard cafe.

We did see the Tiltyard. But I think we are just going for the quick route. Thanks for the info, all.

Yes, everyone eats on trains. You will find that Waterloo Station has dozens of food vendors. Grab a picnic at M&S Simply Food or a pasty or a snack from Pret or a baguette from Upper Crust or or or...

Just make sure you don't inconvenience other passengers, and collect your rubbish afterwards and dispose of it.

It's only a 30 minute train ride though...

We loved the Tiltyard Café when we were there. It didn't take all that long, and Hampton Court will take more energy than a sandwich can deliver, IMO.

People eat on trains, many brown baggers. We buy from M&S and they even sold whiskey and ginger in a can. The cart selection is not that great.

On trains to Hampton Court, there is no buffet service. It's just a local commuter train.

If meaning on train there is no food service on this commuter rail line- TMK

Waterloo Station Food it is! We do not have high expectations for lunch on the go. A sandwich is a bigger lunch than I usually eat. Add some fruit or crisps for the kids and we will be good to go. Thanks so much!

Actually some of the food stands at rail stations do a reasonable job.

Meant to add that there is a Prêt A Manger which is one if the best sandwich/ salad places in UK.
