Eating in The Marais, Paris

We are currently in Paris celebrating the end of my daughter's secondary schooling. She will be getting her final results this week and we would like to dine out to celebrate. Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant - not necessarily over the top expensive, but somewhere nice that is good value. As we are 3 women travelling (Mom and 2 daughters) we would prefer somewhere local. (We are in Rue St Gilles). Any suggestions? Thanks.

Our favorite for an inexpensive meal in the 4th is Le Petit Bofinger, 6, rue de la Bastille. Across the street from it's much more elegant and expensive sister restaurant, it's just about right for a typical Bistro meal with good service, fine food and decent prices.

This is a great restaurant guide (divided up by districts) and website for good places in Paris. Good food and value is emphasized and they publicize less touristy spots.

We have really like Cafe des Musees on 49 Rue Turenne for our last two Paris trips. We always stay in the Marais.

Did I read somewhere that Le Pamphlet is closed?

Yes, it is.

LES BISTRO DES COMPRERES ON RUE CHARLEMAGNE IS A RESTAURANT THAT I REALLY LIKE. I STAYED IN AN APARTMENT IN THE BUILDING OF THIS RESTAURANT AND IT QUICKLY BECAME MY NEIGHBORHOOD PLACE TO GO. VERY GOOD FOOD, GREAT SERVICE AND NOT EXPENSIVE.
IT WOULD BE ABOUT A 10 MINUTE WALK FOR YOU, JUST WALK DOWN RUE TURENNE TO RUE SAINT ANTOINE CROSS OVER,WALK DOWN RUE SAINT PAUL TO RUE CHARLEMAGNE AND TURN RIGHT.
VERY CLOSE AND A REALLY NICE PLACE.
HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A VERY SPECIAL TRIP

Le Carré des Vosges on the rue Saint Gilles gets good reviews.

Reed in the 7th on rue Amelie is so charming and so delicious. We were just there and LOVED it. Catherine who is the owner and chef is terrific. very charming!

sorry, just realized that you are looking in the Marais...so much closer on Ile St Louis, L'Orangerie is also very nice!

Certainly not fancy but very good food and always full of locals Le Bouquet St Paul on the corner of rue St Paul and rue St Antoine. Le Relais d'Isle on the Ile St Louis is excellent but you must reserve.

Despite tdk320n 'shouting (!)' about the Bistrot des Comperes on Rue Charlemagne, I can vouch that it is a really nice place to enjoy a very good meal, and not overly expensive.

Le Bistrot des Comperes (4th, Rue Charlemagne)
http://www.lebistrotdescomperes.fr/

Other reasonably priced yet very good restaurants within walking distance of where you are staying are...

Bistrot d’Oulette (4th, Rue des Tournelles, close to Bastille)
http://www.l-oulette.com/page-BISTRO...OULETTE-4.html

Chaz Janou (3rd, further up on Rue des Tournelles, on corner of Rue de Roger Verlomme, very close to Place des Vosges)
http://www.chezjanou.com/

Ma Salle a Manger (in Place Dauphine at the pointy end of Ile de la Cite just off Pont Neuf. Great food but the wine is a bit pricy)
http://masalleamanger.com/

Café Med (4th, 77 Rue St Louis en l’Ile) incredibly cheap, lunchtime Plat du Jour is less than 10 euros for 2 courses. No website but is well worth a visit)

My apologies to all. I never realized my caps lock was on . I just read julia's comment.

Judy Dec 14th, 2011 01:45 PM

We really enjoyed Chez Janou....it's very close to the intersection of rue St Gilles and rue des Tournelles.
