Eating in Siena: New thread.. what are your favorities?

Did the search and couldn't find Fodorites best recommendations for eating in Siena.. So I'm going to start (another?) here. Please suggest the best eating from family style to fancier, from cichetti (snacks) to gelato... all suggestions for our family of 5 (ages 13,12,10) would be helpful! Lisamarc

I have no specific names to give you, but I would reccommend eating at one of the several outdoor cafes surrounding the main piazza -Il Campo. The ambience is beautiful and the people watching is great. As for the food, you will be hard put to find a bad meal almost anywhere in Siena or Tuscany.

Sit, eat, drink and enjoy! I did!

I forgot to answer the gelato question. Gelato is difficult to find in Italy -
there are gelato stands about every 10 feet, wherever you go!!!!

absolutely try Medio Evo on via dei Rossi, 40. I love that restaurant, great food, great ambiance, I would eat there every night if I lived near it.

Sea Urchin:
Is that restaurant located right in Siena? I will look for it. Grazie.

Cesca1: Have been to Italy before and know that gelato is everywhere; however, many folks have their absolute favorites and since we are gelato crazies, I'd like to know which are stand outs. Grazie Lisamarc
