Eating in Ronda, Spain
 

Does anyone have recommendations for places to eat in Ronda, Spain? Looking for casual, local places to eat (small restaurants or tapas) in order to sample the local cuisine. Most of the recommendations for places to eat in Ronda tend to be a bit dated, so any recent recommendations would be helpful.

Hi, I'm back from Ronda, and read several tripadvisor comments.
As a rule of thumb, make sure the size of what you are ordering: tapa, media ración or ración. The ración is a platter the size of a main course. In ronda, half rations are big enough for two, even for four if you want to try several dishes.
Also, make sure the price of your order. Restaurant Maria is good but expensive, I dont like that they have no price list, so you have to keep on asking. It is embarrasing. But most places have a price list. Check price of wine bottles.
Fish is not a specialty in Ronda, especially fried ones (boquerones, calamares). The big ones (cod and such) can be fine, but Ronda is mostly a place for meat, iberic pork, lamb and goat, etc. And vegetables, of course.
I'll list only places I use to go, places for locals with the occasional traveller:
Lechuguita, at corner C/. Remedios with C/. Rosario, very cheap, you'll find it amusing, you have to check your tapas on a printed bill listing all tapas sorted by price. No mistake here. Casa Ortega, c.La Bola with Pza Socorro, good but pricey; Bodega del Socorro, leaving this Plaza by calle Molino, right opposite Casa Ortega; La Barbacoa, well up calle Infantes. Then at Barrio de San Francisco, Bodega San Francisco, right in front of Almocábar, for tapas at the tavern, or at the table in a dining room in the other building. Last night we were there for drinks and rations, seven people for 39 eur.
There are many restaurants, good most of them. I usually go to Cimbra, but it is upon leaving the town on the road to Campillos.

Thanks for your recommendations. Recently spent a few days in Ronda and tried a few of these and some others. The following were very good for tapas and raciones.

Bodega del Socorro - very reasonably priced; I enjoyed the jamon and queso de oveja, as well as the revuelto.

Tragatapas - great food at reasonable prices; enjoyed the huevos rotos with chistorra, as well as the albondigas.

Hi, Ronda fans. I am in Ronda right now. Last evening I went to La Sacristía with the family, we sat in the open (it was clear and a bit windy). Raining mildly this morning. Today we are going to La Cuadra (fried olives specialty).

Our best meal in Ronda was at the Parador. This is some years ago, though.
