Hello - while I can't remember specific names to tell you about, you should't have any problem finding kid-friendly inexpensive dining. Look for the little trattorias all over. We found many places on our ownin both Florence and Rome, plus recommendations from our hotels. I think you'll find both cities child-friendly (as long as they're well-behaved etc as in any other place)and I think the kids will enjoy the food too. Have a great time.

Trattoria Casalinga, one block west of Santo Spirito on the other side of the Arno, is a wonderful, noisy, friendly place to go, with or without kids. The food is terrific, the prices are very reasonable, the restaurant appears to be owned by one family (the wait staff all resemble each other) and tolerance for spills, noise, and complaints is quite high. Buon appetito! Carol L
