Eating at a cooking school??
 

Bonjour! Does anyone know if you can eat at a French cooking school in the Burgundy area of France?

I'm sure that it's possible since there are already a half dozen places where you can do it in Paris.

One thing to keep in mind is that such schools are closed during the summer holidays as well as any other school holidays during the year.

I'm not clear of what you are asking. Do you mean if you are a student there? Then yes, I think many have that type of program where you prepare a meal and then eat it. It depends on the school. Every cooking school we have signed up in Europe, including France, offered eating only option. It is meant mostly for the non-cooking travel companions. The price is not necessarily competitive, the fares are something within the capabilities of the level of students, and worst of all, these classes get cancelled quite often due to lack of students. I would not do this as a primary way to taste the regional cuisines.

Two seconds of Google brought up this link for culinary schools in Burgundy. Just about every school has a school restaurant on which to test the items prepared rather than throwing them in the trash.

I should mention that in my own experience, but which is probably valid for other regions, during a training mission in Champagne at the chamber of commerce training center in Châlons-en-Champagne, I ate with my group at the cooking school which was located on the premises, and every day we had absolutely fantastic meals prepared and served by 16 year olds whose earnestness was remarkable even when there was a moment of clumsiness. All of these students were aiming for employment in Michelin starred restaurants rather than the local kebab place, and the cost of the meals was about 30% of the market price.
