Flying from Paris to Barcelona on Easyjet next week. I'd like to hear recent experiences with Easyjet, especially their weight enforcement of checked baggage.

They have a new policy as of July or so. I was allowed to carry on a 22" 10.0-kg bag (they weighed it but didn't measure it). But check the site to see if that's the policy.

I see you are asking about Paris Orly. On a previous flight from Paris Orly they did not let me carry on that bag, but said the limit was 7 kg (although the policy had officially changed at that point, but the clerk didn't seem to know).

We flew Easy Jet from Luton to Nice and also from Stansted to Naples. Both times, both of us had "slightly overweight" checked baggage. But they didn't charge a thing for it either time.

I flew EasyJet from Barcelona to Paris-Orly earlier this summer and was assessed a 35 euro fee for a bag that was 5 kilos overweight. The fee was almost as much as I paid for the ticket!

I was three kilos overweight from Barcelona to Stansted and they charged me 18 euros.....and my luggage ended up in Newcastle!

I'm planning to use Easyjet next year for the first time so appreciate the honest feedback here.

Also relieved to hear that smiling at the desk agent or whining about how "dear hubby is so (tired, worn out, frazzled from making millions)" or "we're on our honeymoon" or "meet me in the lavatory later" does NOT get you any breaks with this company...no wonder they're still in business!

This is slightly off topic, but I'm flying easyJet from Nice to London. Any experience with Luton Airport?? I've hera Easy Jet into there is a little sketchy.

I took EasyJet from Berlin to Luton and it went very efficiently. No problems at all. After we got to the airport, we took a brief shuttle bus ride to the Luton Parkway train station and then purchased a train ticket to Kings Cross (10 pounds). At Kings Cross, we switched to the Piccadilly Line which took us to our hotel.

Just got back from our trip and wanted to let everyone know that Easyjet was a fine experience. Our luggage came in just under the 20 kg weight limit. Overall, a very pleasant experience. You can't beat it for the price.

Since I knew there was a 20 kg restriction on checked baggage but none on carry-on (well, within reason!), I placed all my dense items (mostly books I had bought) into my carry-on so my checked suitcase could be as light as possible. I managed to get my suitcase to weigh 21 kg, and they allowed it without a problem (Orly-Toulouse and then later Barcelona-Orly), although as I wandered through the airport after checkin I was muttering about that %!?*#& Easyjet baggage policy while carrying around this heavy shoulder bag. Later the muttering changed to outbursts of "oh for %@$!! sake!! Damn Easyjet!!" as I was wandering around the La Chapelle neighbourhood lost after I left the Gare du Nord through the wrong exit in search of my hotel, dragging behind me my suitcase AND my super heavy shoulder bag... ouf, I was walking around for about what seemed like half an hour (probably just 15 minutes) for what should have been an easy cross-the-street manoeuvre.

(Just as an aside) As you can see I was, let's say, irritated, as well as lost, I decided to find a place to put down my suitcase so I could open it up to retrive my Paris map (which I oh-so-intelligently put in my suitcase instead of my shoulder bag), when all of a sudden I heard a "est-ce que je peux vous aider?" from an intercom (I had placed my suitcase in front of an entrance of some quiet building where there was an intercom and camera). The guy was asking a lot of questions about what I was doing, which made me even more irritated. I had to explain that I was looking for the Gare du Nord so I could get to my hotel. He pointed me in the right direction. Anyway, I saw later I had done a huge around-the-block walk and was at the other side of the station.

I finally found the hotel, which seemed like "la bordelle" (a big mess) because they were renovating and repainting, etc. The door wouldn't even open, which made me even more irritated. I finally got to the desk, checked in, went to my room, then went out again, when the clerk ASKED FOR MY KEY!! hehe (see the "is it customary to leave your key at the desk?!" thread). As you can see, I was ready to explode at that point, although I handled the situation quite well under the circumstances!!

Oh... this was the very last day of my wonderful two-week vacation to Paris, Toulouse and Barcelona. It was just a few hours of frustration. I had a great time even later.

After the key debacle, I went to meet a French friend and I wanted to take him to the Canadian bar and grill in Paris near the Odéon métro station (I think it's called Moosemen, I have to find the business card). Word to North Americans who want a dinner out that simulates a "burgs and fries" night from home... we had a plate of poutine (french fries with melted cheese and gravy.. a Canadian/Quebec specialty hehe), two burgers, a couple cokes and an apple cider and the bill came to 50 euros (how does one make the euro symbol here anyway?). Yikes!

To any Canadians on here, if you happen to be in Paris on Canada Day, apparently this place is packed with ex-pats who whoop it up. It's the unofficial Canadian embassy in Paris hehe.. I wonder, is there an "unofficial" American embassy in Paris too? Hmm, I guess I should start a new threat with this one, eh? (oops, my Canadian showing). I'll have to do it later because I'm late already.
