EasyJet --anybody used their services?
Hi,
Our family will be travelling from London to malaga to barcelona to Paris. Has anybody used Easyjet services? How would rate them. Also, they offer hotel reservation? Were they reliable? thanks Fran |
Flights are comparable with any other airline I have flown - safe, comfortable etc.
In common with most no-frills, budget airlines, food and drinks are not included but are sold during the flight - I usually take something small with me from home or buy a snack in the airport before boarding. Note that there is no assigned seating. Boarding is usually (but not always) done by boarding pass number - they give out generic numbered boarding passes at check in - the earlier you check in the lower the number on your card. Holders of passes 1-30 are usually called first and so on. It's a bit of a free for all but since the flights are short haul, I don't really care where I sit so it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Never used their hotel or car rental services so can't comment on those. |
Hi Fran,
I have travelled a number of times with easyJet without any difficulties & I agree with everything Kavey said in the previous posting. As regards the boarding system, I seem to recall seeing passengers travelling with children being given first call, even before the first lot of boarding card numbers. I can't remember if this is standard for all easyJet flights or if it was only peculiar to certain airports, but if you are travelling with children (you mentioned your family are travelling) it might be worth asking at check-in. I have never actually booked a hotel through their site (which operates through a booking agency named Octopus) because I always found their rates to be on the high side. I have always been able to find the same hotels at lower rates either through other internet booking agents or direct through the hotel's own website. Hope this helps, Jim |
I have had absolutely no problems with Easyjet. Easyjet are the subject of a 'reality type show (kind of fly-on-the-wall docu-drama! called, strangely enough, "Airline") over here in UK, and its great fun to watch! So many complaints and 'I'll never fly Easyjet again!' at the camera! But as I say, I have no gripes at all with this Airline.

Sounds like Easy Jet is very similar to Southwest Airlines.....which "stars" in the US version of Airline.

I've only flown EasyJet once, from Luton to Nice and it was just fine. We also know we were over on the luggage allowance, but nobody said a word about it. In May we will fly them Stansted to Naples.
I've tried looking at rates for their cars, but could never get it to work for pick up and drop off where I needed to. And the hotels I've checked (very limited) were cheaper by booking direct. |
Jim
You're right that those with small kids and those with disabilities are invited to board before the boarding card number system. :D |
As Kavey says, be there early to get one of the first boarding numbers.
Its quite funny seeing all the people rush for the gate and then have to move away so the first 40 or so people can get on the plane first. Easy Jet are cheap and cheerful and I have found them to be great value. Muck |
Used Easyjet many times, no probs, delays no worse than other airlines, sometimes better than full price carriers on the same route. Some who have never used them get a bit nervous, thinking cheap equals unsafe or some other prob,
They save money by avoiding bull, not issuing tickets, not using agents, not giving "free" drinks, using smaller airports etc.Their planes & their standards are good. Their hotel service (Octopus) seems OK, only used it once. |
Old equipment. I've done Paris-Dublin and reverse and felt like offering the cabin crew some of my tape to hold the overhead compartments closed. Then I realized it wouldn't stick because of the dirt and grime.
If you're willing to put up with that, it's like any other bus. But, if you have an Air France ticket and are trying to make a commection to another AF flight at De Gaulle, add an hour to your normal time. The terminal EJ uses is at the far side from the 2F AF terminal. Be prepared to fight to get onto a bus. |
Hi jnealon,
Are you sure about this? I didn't think easyJet flew to/from Dublin. JIm |
Jnealon are you sure you weren't travelling with Ryanair?
