Has anyone heard about this Easy Hotel yet, from the same guys as easyJet and easyCruise? Central London for as low as 20GBP, $35USD per night! I am wondering if anyone knows anything first hand about this hotel, has seen it or stayed in it (I think they're up and running, not sure...)

I think it would be great for extreme budget travelers like myself for a quick weekend in London, though I worry I'd get claustrophobic in one of the rooms without windows. I really want to stay in London for one weekend while I'm studying abroad, but don't want to spend $1,000 for three days, ya know?

I suspect you can pretty well guess what a tiny windowless orange cell would be like.
You can do pretty well with Priceline in London right now, although not so cheap as that, but you'll get a proper double room. I would consider staying at EasyHotel (if by myself), but I am a bit concerned about the security or lack thereof. The rooms don't have phones, and there are no elevators (so far as I can tell), so I am wondering if you might be vulnerable to riff-raff guests.

Hi ColeraineCutie, I have read about the Easy Hotel. Personally it would not be for me but we all have different ideas on how to travel of course.

If you go to CNN/Travel you can read an article about these rooms. Very few have a window although evidently all rooms have a private bathroom. A TV cost extra. There is suppose to be a manned 24/7 desk clerk.

However I would go along with WillTravel's thoughts. You probably would get quite a "collection" of guest. And the CNN article states that other places, B&B's for example, have just as good bargains.

Security is something that one should always be aware of and keep in mind.

You'll get quite a "collection of guests" at ANY hotel you stay in. Assuming that people, like YOU, who stay in budget hotels are more likely to be crooks or thieves than those who pay more to stay elsewhere doesn't necessarily make sense. After all, the people who stay in higher priced places may very well have more things to steal!

There was a review in one of the Sundays last weekend. I don't have it to hand, but it must have been the Observer, the Sunday Times or Scotland on Sunday.

The rooms are tiny, and many don't have wondows. They are clean, orange, and have tiny shower rooms. YOu wouldn't want one for anything other than sleeping. But at that price, who can quibble. Bet they take off in a big way.

Hi Intrepid, I understand what you are saying but just last week our local PD stated that lower priced rooms do have a higher precentage of "problems". And I know that this is true in Italy so I assume it is also true in England. It is good for a single woman traveler to think about security and safety.

Forget all of these issues, it's not in a very central location. Who'd want to pay money (for more than a night) for a windowless room with no wardrobe?

In my opinion, it will do well for a while - as long as the hype about its unique "character" is around, and then it will just flop!

Maybe Sinatra would've liked it as he had a thing about the colour orange, but seeing as he's no longer around it won't have many fans.

They're cheaper than a cab.

They're a version of the japanese "Pod" hotels. I can't imagine staying in one for any other reason. That's also why they are made of wipe-clean surfaces!

Also the idea of waking up heavily hung-over in an ORANGE room is a bit much too.

I stayed there for 2 nights in Sept. I did my research so knew exactly what I was getting. I personally found it a blessing cuz I was on a miniscule budget. It's fine for 1 or 2 nights unless you're claustrophobic. I found it to be in a great location...about a 5 minute walk from Earls Court tube, VERY clean and NOT noisy at all. Plan to stay there again as a stopover point.
