Easy jet. Is it safe???
I found a fare from Glasglow to Bristol for 6 pounds. You've got to be kidding! Dare I board this airline?
|
Yes. Also it will be "plus tax" which will be considerably more than £6. Also watch your baggage weight - the surcharges are killers.
|
Easy Jet and Ryan Air seem to be the two bargain airlines most used in Europe. I've flown both quite a bit, and felt as safe as in any other airline. Just make sure you watch your luggage weight, and don't wait until the last minute to show up.

What is "excessive" on weight requirement. Thanks for all this info.
|
Excessive - anything over 20kg, their maximum weight limit. I'd never fly them - their tangerine colour scheme would give me an head ache for certain.
BA more expensive, but much more comfortable, and one can enjoy a dry martini on board, although not in a martini glass may I add. |
Ryan's baggage limit is 15Kg--or about 33 pounds if you use that measurement system.
Both Ryan and EJ allow carry-on, but restrict the weight of these, too. EJ's is 5Kg as I recall and I can't remember Ryan's. If by safe you mean that the prices are seem too good to be true, I'd say not to worry. While taxes/fees will add to the price, they both offer fantastic bargains to those who jump on them quickly. The only drawbacks beyond the baggage weight limitations are that they have a relatively chaotic first-come-first served boarding procedure, the seats have limited legroom and, if they have problems with the plane you are to take, you might not get out till the next day. Lots of fodorites have posted about EJ and Ryan--if you do a search of the Europe or Airlines forum you'll get a lot more info. |
I've never heard of anyone who flew Southwest Airlines...are they safe??? Of course they are :-). Ryanair, Easyjet etc are like taking a long bus ride. They are great value for money and no-frills. You will be perfectly safe.
|
I heard that it's safe.
I also heard that for that price, you'll have to bring your own folding seats into the plane. |
You are probably not too far off...don't give them any ideas!

Easyjet is as safe as any other airline... the difference is it offers "no frills" travel hence the low cost. I've travelled with them many a time (France, Spain, Ireland, London)... my advice is book up now and take advantage of the £6 fare! But watch the tax surcharges as Gardyloo suggested and make sure you allow plenty of time for check-in, as they can have "waiting lists". |
