Easy Jet Booking - Is 6 months too far ahead?

I have a question for all of you who have flown on Easy Jet:

I intend to fly with this airline from Paris to Toulouse in September. I understand that the earlier one books, the better the rate. When do the rates change? Is six months too early to book?

Considering what has just happened to Jetsgo in Canada (it went bankrupt), I somehow hesitate to book this early. Of course, one could argue that it could happen to any airline these days...

Thank you for your input.

EasyJet has been a profitable airline for years now, which is more than you can say about most airlines.

If worried, get the appropriate travel insurance.

If you see a rate on EasyJet like 9 Euros plus tax, there is simply no room for the rates to go down, barring an extraordinary sale where the rates go down to something like 1 Euro plus tax. But it's far more likely the prices will rise than that you will save 8 Euros (or whatever).

If you are certain you are going to take the trip i advise you to book it as soon as the reservation period opens. The fares will only get higher as the day of travel approaches.

And if you buy your ticket for €8 or whatever and if the airline does indeed go out of business, so what? You're out only €8...

Easy Jet's schedules often aren't set as far in advance as the Euro legacy carriers, which seems to be part of its ability to run its market plan so well.

You can sign up for its e-mail updates, which are very helpful. The attentive traveler gets the deals.

I've followed a lot of their fares for several years, and used them a couple of times. They used to insist that their prices will never go down, only up as time goes by, but a year or so ago they softened that policy to say that they may actually lower prices later in the game. But I have yet to see that. You can't guess when the prices will go up. They offer so many seats at the lowest price and when those are sold they go up, as those seats are sold, they go up again. As time goes by you'll notice that three flights on the same day may vary widely in price, as will the same flight on three consecutive days. It all depends on how many seats have been sold for each flight.

Buy as early as you can, unless you prefer waiting so you can spend more money!

Assume GAP = flight date - today's date.
Price varies inversely with the value of GAP.
I recently bought for June.
Good price because GAP for me was at the Easy Jet maximum.

It is a different business model, and one that has been successful as near as I can tell. The airline is not threatening to go belly up.

If their reservation window isn't open for your dates yet, definitely go to their website and sign up for the e-mail notification. My impending flight from Athens to Gatwick in August opened at about 55 Euros; at this point it is up to over 135 Euros; the same flight three days prior is only 80 Euros.

Thank you all for your enlightening responses. After reading them, I booked two seats on EJ for mid-September.

I will first spend a few days in Paris, then head for the Southwestern part of France. I've alreaded rented a gîte for a week in Limoux, near Carcassonne, in the Cathar region, and another one in St-Guilhem, near Montpellier. I will then fly back to Paris for a few more days.

Thank you again for your help.
