Easy hikes near Lauterbrunnen/Stechelberg
We're planning a family trip to the Lauterbrunnen area (Stechelberg) for five days in mid-August, followed by a few days in Thierachern.
Unfortunately, I’ve recently started having hip issues. I’m looking for recommendations for walks, trails, or other activities that aren’t too steep. I can walk but need to take breaks, and very steep inclines might be difficult (hip flexion can exacerbate the situation). It's also important for me to avoid sitting or standing for too long at a time. Would really be appreciative of ideas that still allow me to take in the natural beauty. |
Good luck with your hip! I trust that people who know Switzerland far better than I will chime in, but here are a few suggestions. I walked them -- slowly -- after a thigh injury that limited my activities, so they MIGHT work for you.
From Mannlichen, walk to Gipfel and back, take the cable car to Holenstein, walk to Brandegg, through Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen From Grutschalp to Murren, visit Schilthorn if you want, take cable cars through Gimmelwald and Stechleberg, (I'm guessing the Trummelbach Falls will be too difficult), but I thought the walk to Lauterbrunnen pleasant The Alpine Garden on Schynige Platte Note that you can also take a boat to Brienz to visit the Ballenberg Open Air Musuem OR visit Thun and the castles in Hilterfingen and Oberhofen Hope that helps! |
