Easy day trip from Florence
Daughter & friends in Florence for 4 nights in June.
Suggestions for easy train/bus day trip to a hill town and/or winery nearby? |
Siena, easy bus connection from/to Florence.
|
Agree Siena
|
Other easy day trips include Lucca ( hill town) and Pisa (not a hill town).
Of the 3 I’d recommend Siena, and travel by bus. |
I agree with Siena. I left early in the morning as by the time I got to Siena, I had trouble finding the bus departure, I was the only one in Piazza del Campo. The ride had very nice scenery.

I can recommend doing a tour with Grape Tours. The one I did in November 2023 was fantastic. |
Fiesole or Pisa.

Fiesole. A short, easy bus trip from Florence. Interesting Etruscan ruins. Good scenery.

I agree with all above...Siena.
Plan on going early, having dinner there and staying late. Best to take the latest bus, or if need be train, back. |
There are lots of wine tours from Florence. They typically include stops at a few villages, one or more wine tastings, and lunch at a vineyard. It's a pleasant and easy way to see a bit of rural Tuscany. Be sure to get a small bus tour, with a maximum of about 16 people. Any hotel, or the tourist office, will be able to help arrange one of these.
Siena is indeed a very nice day trip. I also like Lucca and Pisa, but neither is a hill town. Lucca has a very impressive (and massive) city wall. |
