Easy 1day/night trip from London
Hi!

I have never been to London before but am planning a (surprise) trip for my boyfriend who once lived there for 5 years. Was planning 5 or 6 nights in london and thought it might be good to visit another country during this time. I really have no idea what would be easy/worthwhile, but would like to have a good plan in place. Any opnions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks
If you are only planning 1 night away from London, you could take the bullet train to Edinburgh, Scotland - 4hrs or so. Both Holyrood Palace and Edinburgh castle right there.

OR- Take the train to Bath - 1 hr - stay at the Villa Magdala - Bath is a great getaway.

good luck.
Debbie

In about the same amount of time it would take you to get to Edinburgh, you could go to Brussels, Belgium, or on to Paris on the Eurostar. Do a search for Eurostar and you'll find all sorts of info that should help you.

The 'bullet train' to Edinburgh??
There is nothing in the UK that would even remotely fit that description. A trip on British railways is a trip back in time, and that's not in a good way.
Edinburgh for 24 hours is too far. Try Bath, Oxford, Cambridge Stratford-upon-Avon or Brighton instead.

This guy obvsiously means alot to you for you to be organising such a wonderful surprise. Then I HIGHLY recommend you take him to Paris. It is the best time you will ever have. Make sure you buy yourselves a bottle of wine and take a few sandwhichs (plastic cups) and sit by the river near Notre Damne and toast to the most romantic trip you will ever have together! PARIS IS THE BEST.
Janie in London.
