Barefootbeach, thank you so much for taking the time to post your gorgeous photos and wonderful report. You have a great eye for composition. Have you taken photography classes?

I notice you mentioned it was cold in the mornings and evenings in Ljubljana. I guess I'm surprised it was that cold in September. What did you wear for a coat/jacket? We will be spending 2 weeks in southern France visiting our daughter and attending our grandchildren's christening before we leave for Croatia, so I have to be careful how I pack. We will have nice clothes for the christening and gifts for our grandchildren. It will be warm in southern France and hopefully warm in southern Croatia. I am planning on wearing a spring/fall (lightweight) coat on the plane (we are coming from Boston), but now I think I should pack a fleece, too. We will be in Ljubljana from May 3 to May 6.

I have put Monstera Bistro on my restaurant list. Would you recommend Spajza? It sounds like you have mixed feelings about it.

KarenWoo, thank you so much! No, haven't taken classes but I've been doing it a long time. I had a fleece jacket but I really wish I'd packed my light weight down jacket (folds into a pouch)...could've used it. This was at the end of September, first of October, so perhaps it was colder by then. I liked Julija better than Spazja, but I'd still give that a try as it does get excellent reviews...ask to make a reservation for the front room too. Have a wonderful time at the christening! BTW, the shopping was the best on our trip here. Cute dragon T-shirts and princess puppets at the Castle...or jewelry with dragon motif.

Barefootbeach, wonderful report! Fabulous photos! The majority of the places you visited were revivals of nice memories for us. Having never been to Slovenia, your TR makes us move it higher on our list. Thanks so much!

barefoot beach, I've really enjoyed your TR, and thanks again for prompting my memories of so long ago.

Your photos are fabulous .
We loved Slovenia - a beautiful surprise . We were there late September some years ago - the weather was lovely - just needed a light jacket - I don't even own a down jacket !
Your photo of the building is art nouveau not Art Deco - Llublijana is famous for its succession or art nouveau buildings .

Northie, thanks! And appreciate you correcting my architectural description, not my area of expertise.

For those interested in the cruise portion, be advised that the dress is code is much more casual than on ocean cruises. Most dressed 'country club casual" but some kept their day's biking clothes on...whatever works for you.
