Eastern Europe Road Maps

Anybody know for sure where road maps of Eastern Europe (Ukraine, Bylorus, and neighboring nations) can be found - either on-line or in print?

If you do, please tell me where they might be found.

Have you checked with AAA? You don't have to be a member, just ask somebody who is a member to order those on-line.

Try this site:

AAA has an eastern Europe map. I don't know how good it is. In general, I find AAA maps to be relatively poor.
But they do show the major cities.

The Ukraine link will be helpful.

Hi
I have a couple of suggestions. When are you planning to go? Yhe maps are usually coming out early spring for 2006. An updated most recent map is essential, as in many of the central, eastern European countries new roads are being built because the former governments controlled everything. Many of the road numbers have been changed if you get an older map. They are rapidly expanding the roads in many of the countries. You have to open the maps and look closely for the print date. I currently have maps of Romania, Moldavia, Slovania, these may be outdated by now. I usually check Amazon on line or Barnes & Noble in person or on line and Borders. Check out www.globecorner.com this is the bookstore of the Boston Globe. I think it may be too early to get a 2006 map, I usually wait until Spring. I'm sorry, I've used other sites but I delte after a while. some of the companies I've used are Euromap, freytag & berndt and michelin.
Good luck

Michelin does not seem to have much east of Poland and Hungary. Same for Freytag and Berndt. I looked at those web sites. The trip is not close at hand. So future dates are tolerable.

Good to know that recent maps are almost required to know what is going on.

The AAA map does not include the Ukraine. It is more Czech Republic and Slovenia.

I will try Globe Corner.

Hi
I thought of another map maker that I've bought in the past Euromap. It's made by RV Verlag GMbH in Stuttgart. I believe I may have bought it in a b&n bookstore. It covers the southern and extreme western portion of Ukraine as well as Moldava. I've actually had better luck at the bookstores. wait until Spring until the stores get their travel books and maps in. I've even had b&n do a search for a certain map for me.

BN or Borders have a good selection of E. Europe maps...I've used Freytag for my auto travlels in Eastern Europe long before such travel was popular..and guide books were rare. Also call the nearest Romanian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Czech, Polish, etc consulate and they will all have maps, some of which I've used, and they're not all bad.

Freytag & Berndt does have a Ukraine map, but I don't know its date. Try looking at some of the specialized map stores -- you can always call them for more info. E.g.,
www.mapper.com
wwwmapsguidesandmore.com

Sorry, make that mapsguidesandmore.com with no www.

Copy this

+ "road Maps" + "eastern Europe"

and paste it into Google.com

You'll find plenty of places.

FYI, the + (or -) are called Boolean operators and help narrow down the search while the " " group the two or more words into a phrase.
