Eastern Europe - historical fiction
 

We're going to Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary. Would love some suggestions for historical fiction for some background flavor. Any suggestions?

"Poland" by James A. Michener gives you the whole very interesting history of that country.

"Unbearable Lightness of Being" by Kundera (Czechoslovakia).

Also, the movie "Sunshine" for Hungary.

But it's really about Budapest and much of it is about the circa-1990 period.
