Planning a trip to eastern europe in fall/06 - hoping visit poland, czech republic, ukraine, romania, etc.

The trip is mainly to visit the "old country" as my dad and his side of t he family are from poland.

Any advice and/or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I think Lonely Planet's guide to Eastern Europe is invaluable to anyone doing an on your trip in the old East Bloc. Available at any good library or bookstore.

I visited Poland and Czech Rep. as part of a long 2004 trip - info on my website, www.wilhelmswords.com. I plan to visit Ukraine and northern Romania this spring - stay tuned, I'll probably post some info here. Agree with recommendation for Lonely Planet. And do you have specific questions?
