Easter week in Rome

Does anyone have any thoughts on how the crowds will be after Easter Week in Rome?
Does anyone know about the neighborhood around Santa Marrie Maggiore Bascilica is this area safe and are there any good resturants?
Thanks for any help

It will be crowded, but not like the prior week. The neighborhood is safe but not all that scenic. One of the best restaurants in Rome is near there, Agata e Romeo. For gelato, try Fassi in Piazza Vittorio Emanule.

This may be a silly question, but here goes anyway. Is Easter Week in Rome the week following Easter? Or is it the week of Good Friday, ending with Easter? I'll be arriving in Rome on Good Friday. Will it be a mad house then? My thinking is YES. Lucky for me, I'll be in and out of FCO and off to Orvieto area for about 4 days and then south to Naples. How crazy is this whole idea? (not that I'll change my mind...LOL)

Easter week begins the Monday before Easter and ends on Easter Sunday.
