I will be in Rome on Easter. Does anyone know if I need to get tickets in advance?

You can try & call the Vatican to request tickets @ 011 69884631 or fax your request to 011 0669883865. If you fax be sure to indicate the date number of tickets you will need and the name of the hotel you are staying at in Rome.

I was in Rome on Easter a few years ago and the service took place outside. There was a roped off area that I assume you needed tickets or a pass to get seats but you didn't need anything to stand.

and request tickets to Easter Sunday Mass at St. Peter's Square. They also issue tickets for other Holy Week activities that require tickets such as Chrism Mass - St. Peter?s Basilica (9:30am Thursday)and Papal Mass - St. Peter?s Basilica (8pm Saturday).

The Church of Santa Susanna used to do it, and while they no longer do it, their website, www.santasusanna.org does give all the updated information on the how to do it. The email they say to use to get tickets is [email protected] We got tickets to Good Friday services in St. Peter's through Santa Susanna a couple of years ago. The tickets give admission to seats that are closer to the altar, but I believe that the public was allowed in closer to the start of the service. You can also ask at Santa Susanna which services are open to the public without a ticket.
