Easter 2004 in Sicily

Our family of 4,including two teen age daughters, we are planning on going to Sicily during Easter Holidays(the week of April 4) Would like to know any pointers in travelling to Sicily during that week or would it be better going there the week after(the week of April 11). We are planning on staying fo 7 days.

I think it would be fascinating to go the week before Easter so you can see the traditional processions and other customs of Holy Week, which often combine ancient pagan rituals with the regular Christian religious observances. Some of the places with the best known Holy Week traditions on either the Thursday or the Friday are Trapani, Enna and Piana degli Albanesi, but probably every city and town has something somewhat interesting for you to see that week.

Sometimes I think I'd like to go to Sicily at that time myself, so I'm interested in any responses you might get.

Wouldn't Italy be very crowded with tourists around Easter. I am hesitant to go there if there are too many people. How crowded does it get?

Thanks for your response. Does anyone what the weather will be like in Sicily for early April?

Easter can be crowded in Sicily but not as crowded as in mainland Italy during Summer.
