Easiest way to get from Athens Airport to Downtown Athens Hotel

Six of us will be arriving together at the Athens airport around 11:00 A.M. in late June. Does anyone know the easiest way to get to our hotel in downtown Athens? Train, taxi, bus? We are staying at the Grande Bretagne. Thanks for any insights!

We stayed at The Grand Bretagne last July. Took two cabs, each one was about 30E.

It is simple to take a taxi; a lot easier than the train with luggage.

The airport Metro stops at Syntagma Square, which is across the street from the GB. 3 tickets for 15 Euro. Plenty of baggage room inside.

Thanks for the insights. Brotherleelove, you've helped us again (previous Santorini post-we took your advice and booked a spot with a pool). So the metro from the airport to Syntagma Square sounds like 30 Euros for six people and pretty easy. I assume there is a station inside the airport and that the metro is in and out every few minutes, etc.

The metro is in a separate building just a short walk across the street from the main entrance hall. I believe it departs every 30 minutes. Just walk over to the ticket window then take yourselves downstairs to the platform and wait.

Take the metro to Syntagma Square and then get a taxi down Syngrou to the Marriott but settle on a price before you get in, Athens taxi drivers are rip off merchants.

I also meant to say you could walk it from Syntagma but may be too far if you have much luggage.

Just a follow up.......we are home and did take the train! It was very easy and inexpensive! The subway system in Athens was surprisingly clean, fast and efficient! I hear they put alot of money into it before the Olympics.

Athens was very hot the last week of June, but we headed out to the Pelopponesse before the fires started!
