Black taxi would be the easiest. Pre-booked mini-cab would be almost as easy and would cost £75 plus. Train from Kings Cross Thameslink would cost about £10 each. Add to that the cost of getting to the train station by taxi or tube.

Ron - your prices and information is a little incorrect.

A black cab is not an option - is the most expensive and quite possibly the slowest way. A pre-booked mini-cab will cost around 50GBP, however, I'd recommend you use Aircars2000 (www.aircars2000.com) - offer cash and they'll take 60GBP for a Mercedes saloon car.

Try www.justairports.com. You have to plug in the postal code of the neighborhood in London, but from the one I tried it is 37 GBP to Luton if you pay cash.

MK2, I agree a black cab would not be an option for me, but if you check her other posts, biggy47 is a wealthy American on a 7 week grand tour of Europe. And nothing is easier than stepping out of your hotel and having the doorman wave down a taxi. Pre-booking a minicab, by definition, is less easy; researching to find a cheap but reliable minicab is even more less easy.

But maybe biggy doesn't really want easiest.

The hotel will organise a car transfer to the airport on request, no need for black cab.

Biggy47 may or may not be wealthy.

But she's using buses and Easyjet, which makes it pretty clear she's not interested in throwing whatever money she might have around.

And that she's got enough sense to know how to hail a black cab in London. There's no price control on this journey: you have to haggle on the pavement, in front of the hotel. Which may or may not add spice to your day. You can always dismiss the first one and haggle with the next, BTW.

The alternative to mkingdom's suggestion is the Green Line coach, which goes from Baker St in pretty much the same time as a car (the traffic on the Finchley Road treats everyone the same). Timetables at http://www.london-luton.co.uk/kiosk/..._greenline.pdf
