Earthquake hits southern Spain

At least ten people were reported dead and dozens injured after an earthquake shook southeastern Spain on Wednesday, toppling historic buildings in the medieval town of Lorca.

What !?! I have not heard. We have dear frinds in Marbella - not sure if that is nearby?

I will go check the news. So sad.

Lorca is a small town near Murcia, plenty far enough away from Marbella so rest assured they have not been affected.

The A7 that goes right around the town is cut off until engineers can inspect possible structural damage to a tunnel.

USGS is reporting two quakes at about the same long/lat in Spain today. The first was a 4.5 about 10 km deep, and the second less than two hours later a 5.3 about 1 km deep.
