Early check in in Rome

Are there hotels that offer early check in for those that just crossed the Atlantic and will arrive at 9:00 am.?

Although you can always request it, there will rarely be a guarantee unless you choose to pay for an extra night and reserve for the night before. You may get lucky, but let's face it -- if the hotel is full and people don't check out until 10 or 11, how can they possibly have a room ready for you at 9 AM?

If you want to check in that early book the reservation for the day before arrival-really. Otherwise, you'll have to check in at the hotel's standard check in time. Unless they happen to have a vacancy beforehand.

I know in many hotels early check in can be a problem, but we've never been refused a room in Italy when we've just gotten off a plane. Just lucky I guess.

No hotel will ever guarantee you can get into the room at 9 a.m. unless you pay for the previous night, but many hotels will gladly take and store your luggage until such time as the occupants of your room have checked out.

So if you want to USE the room at 9 a.m., you'll have to pay for it. If you just want to arrive at the hotel and be checked in, but not actually gain access to your room, there should be no problem. You can leave your luggage and go off and stroll around while your room is made up.
