Early 4th of July Hello to All travelers

Hi to all...May this day bring to all who travel, a safe and happy greeting from an American who loves her country, and is proud to be an American. God Bless America...Helen

Strange for a post on the Europe board but several years ago I was in London over the 4th and I attended a 4th of July party that was hosted by Brits! Small fireworks, beer and the works.

A sweet sentiment I'm sure, Helen, but did you also send a cheery greeting to other countries in Europe when they observed their National days?

Any idea as to why our loyal comrades on the Continent have dire resevations about us now? I have a few ideas.

I viewed Fahrenheit 911 today and I'm still in awe. It's not that the film necessarily delved into unknown territory but rather put into context what our (former?) dear friends around the globe have known and perceived of us from 9/11 onward.

Happy Independence Day.

ps - Daniel Webster wrote about our Independence : "The people's government, made for the people, made by the people, and answerable to the people."

The people will have an answer the 1st Tuesday of this November -- and it will help mend the damage hereto done to our standing in the World Opinion.

In this neck of the woods (Down Under) the reservations have also been growing for some time. Nonetheless, a happy Independence Day from me to Americans of goodwill. The damage will take some time to repair, but it will happen. Enjoy your day.

Damn! My PC has a 'Java Virtual Machine' (or absence thereof) problem and won't display that site properly ever since my PC-tech son performed open-heart surgery on it. Another job for him, but I've bookmarked the site!
