Ear Trouble on Train Trips?
Anyone have ear problems on trains, especially going through tunnels? Mine feel like there going to explode. No one else on the train seems to be bothered??

My ears pop all the time on trains, especially the TGV. Chew gum, swallow, hold your ears shut and blow hard out the mouth.

Thanks for the reply, but its not an ear popping problem, it's the state before the pop, it feels like your head is going to expode, very strange.

If anyone has a solution please let me know.

Diane, if you "pop" your ears before the pain really builds up, it won't build up. My best remedy is, as soon as I feel the build up, but before it gets painful, to hold my nose, close my mouth and try to blow out, hard. It makes my ears pop and relieves the pressure, so the pain never happens.

Thanks everyone for your help with my problem.

As i usually have ear problems on planes, i had bought 'ear planes" before leaving for Italy.
I had absolutely no problem (thank g-d) with my ears on the planes but then I took the Eurostar from Rome to Florence.
Ow!!! I looked around the dining car I was in, and no one seemed to be having the same problem.
Luckily, I had my 'ear-planes' in my bag, took them out straight away and things improved.
Very strange indeed.
